Data Architecture

The Global Hydration Index™ uses the same core Wetness Index formula as the local tool — humidity weighting, dew-point scoring, precipitation probability, 24-hour precipitation total, and rain presence bonus — applied to 12 global reference nodes simultaneously.

In addition, the GHI page surfaces four variables not shown in the local tool: cloud cover, wind speed, soil moisture (root-zone exposure), and evapotranspiration (ET₀). These inform the planetary-level derived metrics only and do not affect the per-region WI score.

Relative Humidity, Dew Point, Precip Probability, Precipitation, Rain, Showers Shared with local Wetness Index — core WI formula inputs
Cloud Cover % — "Overcast Pressure" GHI-specific — not shown in local Wetness Index tool
Wind Speed 10m (mph) — "Evaporative Drag Factor" GHI-specific — indicates atmospheric drying potential
Soil Moisture 0–1cm (m³/m³) — "Root-Zone Exposure" GHI-specific — agricultural legume moisture indicator
ET₀ FAO Evapotranspiration (mm/day) GHI-specific — used in Bean-Adjacent Exposure index
